From An NYC Apartment
I started Effie’s Paper sitting at my desk in my living room (I live in NYC, so space is at a premium). Everything took place in the living room of my New York City apartment. All the ideation, packaging, shipping, inventory management, you name it took place in my home. Fortunately, we had a basement storage unit and I was able to store inventory there in the beginning.
At first, it was just me, me, and me. When I was able to hire an assistant I did. And then came the interns. My poor husband never knew what was going to greet him when he walked in the door every evening. I dreamed of moving to a dedicated space, but office space is expensive in New York! A good friend knew I was desperate to move EP out of my apartment and generously offered us the parlor floor of her beautiful Brooklyn brownstone just before the 2017 holiday season.
