Self-Care Sundays. I think self-care Sundays are going to have to be a thing in my world from now on. I’m usually pretty good about unplugging, but the past 3 months have been a little crazy. I’ve been going non-stop for the past 7 weeks and I am tired. And my chronic fatigue has made me realize that in order to turn off, self-care Sundays are a necessity.
I said this to an acquaintance the other day and he said,
“But you sell stationery online, right? What’s so tiring about that?”
My response? “Yes, you’re right, I do sell stationery online.” And, then I went on to explain to him that Effie’s Paper has become much more than an online stationery company. Which means that as CEO of the company, in addition to creating the various products we sell, I am responsible for having them manufactured, maintaining a handle on our inventory and ultimately shipping said products to our retail and wholesale customers once they’re sold.
Oh, and selling products online for anyone not familiar with how the backend of a website works is not for the faint of heart. I’m sure there are a few of you out there getting degrees in supply chain logistics because these little online stores have become big business. Not to mention the marketing/PR part of things which includes, but is not limited to, posting daily on social media, writing newsletters and appearing on podcasts.
Truthfully, all of the above should be invisible; what you should see are pretty products, an easy to use website and messaging that makes you feel good about you and about us as a brand. But I’m just keeping it real ya’ll, getting all of the components in place so that it looks seamless and pretty, is more than a notion.
And as a result, I’m declaring Self-Care Sundays a real thing in my world. I hope you do too!
Stylishly yours, Kalyn
