Stylishly Yours, Kalyn is a blog about the adventures of an east coast fashionista moonlighting as an entrepreneur with a passion for travel, NYC, and a good bourbon cocktail.
If you follow us on Instagram, then you know that on Wednesdays we wear pink! It’s no secret that I am in deep like with the color pink and commonly talk about it. Although, truth be told, purple is my favorite color .. but that’s a story for another day. The color pink symbolizes love, compassion, and understanding. Like Audrey Hepburn and one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers and friends, Amy Littleson McNitt, I am a firm believer in pink and everything that it stands for.
My favorite way to summarize the color pink is through this famous quote…
“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.” – Audrey Hepburn
There’s just something about the vibrancy of the color pink that draws me in. But it’s really been the past few years that have taught me to truly believe in the color pink. Especially when I think of Audrey’s quote and everything the color stands for.
Then Came Mean Girls
It’s hard to believe that the movie Mean Girls came out in 2004! On Wednesdays we wear pink was a pivotal part of the movie’s plot; the phrase became an instant hit. Kids, and adults alike, began to use the phrase. It quickly became one of the most referenced and commonly used movie phrases.
For the 5 people who have not seen Mean Girls, the phrase “on Wednesdays we wear pink” was said in one of the movie’s most memorable scenes. Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams), the leader of The Plastics, declares that on Wednesdays, the group wears pink. Wearing pink on Wednesdays becomes one of the many rules that Cady (the new girl) must follow. If she wants to fit in with the popular crowd.
If Cady, or any of the other girls in the group, don’t wear pink on Wednesdays, they can’t sit at the popular girls’ lunch table. Totally arbitrary and random, but certainly apropos of real life. I think we all fell in love with Mean Girls because the movie underscores just how absurd the rules high school cliques can be.
You Can Sit With Us
That being said, we use the phrase “On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink” with a wink and a smile because the Effie’s Paper Girl Gang is the exact opposite of that of The Plastics and what happens in Mean Girls. Our customers are my biggest inspiration. I do what I do and I create the products I create. I work to empower women as an homage to my younger self and anyone who didn’t see herself reflected in popular culture when growing up.
Our Girl Gang
We have worked hard to foster a safe online community for our customers and followers. I truly believe that there’s nothing better than having a strong group of like-minded women to lean on. Just like that group text many of us have to pump ourselves up. Our products are designed to pump women up when their girlfriends aren’t around. And I’m delighted to say it’s working; the best emails and DMs are those we get from customers and followers engaging with us on a personal level – from the thank you for sharing what was on your heart to the kind notes about our products making them happy.
Everyone Is Welcome

We accept you as you are and root for you as you achieve your dreams. Our products are bold and PRETTY. Wednesdays have just become a fun day for us to use and reference the quote since I do love the color pink. We get to encourage people to share in the color pink and all of its amazingness while quoting an iconic movie.
On Wednesdays we wear pink
Effie’s Paper is designed with YOU in mind and we strongly believe that The Future is Female and that it’s being fueled by Black Girl Magic. So we would never want anyone to think that they can’t be a part of our Girl Gang.
You can always sit with us.
