ICYMI, wanderlust is my middle name. I love to travel. Yes girl, I am a proud card carrying member of the laptop lifestyle club. To be honest, for me the hardest part about preparing for any trip is figuring out what to pack. For this trip I was leaving from NYC where it was decidedly Fall and heading to Santa Barbara, California for a wedding where the temps were in the mid 70s.
Oh and did I mention, I no longer own a 24″ rollerboard/carry on suitcase? Le sigh. Those 2 inches make a BIG difference ya’ll! I reluctantly gave up my 24″ Hartman rollerboard because although it served me well for over 20 years, the wheels were no longer rolling properly and the handles had been repaired so many times I lost count. (And my husband’s comments about how loud my wheels were as we walked through the airport did not help!) In case you too have a 24″ piece you love, be forewarned, no one makes them anymore because the airlines don’t want “large” bags in the overhead bins.
As a consolation, I decided to buy a pretty Steamline luggage set, I chose my color combo thoughtfully and was mesmerized by the pretty when it arrived. But, it was too delicate – have you seen what TSA can do to a piece of luggage??? So, after lots of research and many conversations (remember I had my last set for 20 years), I decided to invest in a 4-wheel roller from Tumi.
This was a quick trip; I needed to pack what I was wearing to the wedding, something to work out in, beach clothes, lounge clothes in and maybe a dress or two to wear out to dinner or lunch. Not a ton of stuff, but just enough that it required thought before packing. AND, it all fit!!
We’re 6 trips in; so far so good.
Stylishly yours, Kalyn
