It’s hard to believe it, but the holidays are literally around the corner! For brands like ours, September means it’s time for holiday pop-up preparation. One of the most challenging things about doing pop-ups in NYC is getting our products to and from events. Over the course of time, with lots of trial and error, we’ve come up with a fool-proof plan. We have a popup shop kit that’s almost like a mini office, replete with supplies, for the road.
How To Take Your Show On The Road!
The hard part is carting this mini office and our products around the city. If you’ve spent any time in NYC you can imagine that this is no mean feat. When you’re flagging down cabs, piling into Ubers and yes, sometimes getting on the subway.
The Best Way To Cart Products Around
May 2022 was the ultimate holiday pop-up preparation for us. We vended at the Bryant Park Maker’s Market in anticipation of being accepted as a vendor at the Union Square Holiday Market. We treated this opportunity as a trial run. Luckily for us, we discovered Veno’s Extra Large Moving Storage Bags. They proved to be a game-changer for us. We’re a small but mighty team of womxn. Hauling cardboard boxes around is virtually impossible for us because they’re heavy and unwieldy. And everything I just said in the section above. Veno’s moving bags are lightweight, they hold up to 50 lbs. Hey, notebooks can be heavy and the wrap-around poly webbing handles on the bags make them extremely durable. Plus they unzip wide for easy loading.

Water Resistant Storage Bags
We were looking for water-resistant bags to tote our stuff around in because the Bryant Park market is held outside. As New Yorkers, we knew the possibility of May showers was real and wanted to be prepared (paper products and rain are not a good combo!). Thankfully we focused on water-resistant storage bags because there was torrential rain storm first night (of a 3-day event) after the market closed.
I went home that evening extremely worried about the effect the rain was going to have on our tent and products; I only slept because I was exhausted. The next morning much to my relief, when I got to Bryant Park our tent was still standing. Water had seeped under the tent, and the bottoms of our Veno bags were wet, but our products were not wet.

The Pop-Up Practice Run
Everything we did in May, was a test in preparation for our six-week-long pop-up at the Urbanspace Union Square Holiday Market. (To learn more about our experience vending at Union Square, click here). We used our Venmo Extra Large Moving Storage Bags to transport and store products at our booth where we battled both rain and snow. I’m happy to report that these bags held their own with the harsh Winter elements.
I get a lot of questions about holiday pop-up prep from other small business owners. The one question more people should ask is, “what do you use to cart your products around in?”
So, as you start thinking about holiday pop-up prep and get ready for a successful holiday season, make sure you add Veno Extra Large Moving Storage Bags to your pop-up shop tool kit.
